Bio

         Once Upon A Time Check

Radio changed my life overnight… literally.

My first radio job was midnight to dawn announcer on Radio Windy in Wellington,
back in the Land of the Long Flat Vowel.

Working my way up down the dial eventually culminated in the launch of the phenomenal comedy duo known as “The Top Marks” on the now legendary Triple M 89FM. I was the creator, co-exec producer & anchor. We took the breakfast show from worst to first in just twelve months, rapidly rising to become the No.1 rating breakfast show in Auckland, this was then followed by contracts at KZFM in Melbourne & K-ROCK in Geelong.

Taking a break from radio In ’94, I created & launched VoiceWorks, New Zealand’s first voiceover agency, representing actors & announcers to advertising agencies & recording studios. It was an immediate success with clients & talent alike, so much so that by 1996 I opened the Sydney office to become the only multinational voice agency on the planet! One of the highlights was creating & launching a world first – a voiceover agency website featuring the voiceover artists’ demos, streamed in real time.

Eventually the lure of returning to performing on-air was too strong to resist & I resumed my broadcasting career on Sydney’s WSFM as presenter/producer of the Breakfast Show (Summer Edition), followed by two years as presenter/producer of the Weekend Breakfast Show, rating #1, 25-54.

Making the big switch to talk radio I joined 2GB 873AM, initially researching, writing, interviewing & presenting on-camera & on-mic at MRN Digital before moving into the role of executive producer & talk host.

More recently I made the jump to Sydney’s 2UE 954 for the relaunch with an all new lineup.

Now I know what you’re thinking… “But he looks SO young!” Well, whether I look it or not, radio does keep you young by its very nature. It’s always changing, evolving, moving with the times, setting the pace. And that’s what I love about it. Every day is a new challenge with new listeners to interact with, as well as the always entertaining regular callers, plus poets, priests & politicians, authors, innovators & experts, stars of the stage, screen & sporting arenas. What more could you want?

Personally, I always want more listeners, so give me a call next time I’m on the air.

And if you would like to discuss a project, I’m always keen to talk… so to speak.

Remember… “Aim for the impossible & achieve the extraordinary”.
